Frozen EBM

Mummy has read about how some babies rejected frozen EBM (expressed breast milk) as it tastes different from the fresh ones due to the fishy smell. She decided to thaw a pack of frozen EBM for me to try before it expires and guess what was my reaction? I cried and refused to drink after a few suckle. Daddy opened and smelled the content and agreed there was a fishy smell. Daddy told mummy to pour away and not to let me drink. Seeing it into the basin was indeed a waste. Therefore, mummy used it to wash her hands. It was indeed very moisturising.

How do you think mummy is going to do to those remaining packs of frozen EBM.. she is going to mix them with the chilled ones without daddy's knowledge. But I still prefer it fresh..

Trip to Singapore Expo

As an avid reader, how could daddy possibly miss any book fair. Thus, daddy and mummy brought me to Singapore Expo on 10/4/2009. Daddy went to check out his genre of books while mummy and I looked out for books for me. The book fair was not very impressive and we just managed to get a few books.

Daddy and mummy then brought me to John Little Expo Warehouse Sale. I was so happy when daddy and mummy wanted to buy a play mat for me. However, my happiness was short lived as the queue was ridiculously long and they decided not to waste the time queueing. sob..sob..

Am I cute? This is the same romper I wore for my 1st month celebration. It is now getting tighter and I might not be able to wear it soon.

Happy 1st Month

Daddy and mummy celebrated my full month by throwing a tea reception at our place on Sunday, 15 March 2009 (this day happened to be my EDD).

It was actually my full month cum house warming party because daddy and mummy have never invited any of their friends and relatives FORMALLY to our home since they shifted in June last year.

Guests started streaming in at 1.30pm and our place was packed shortly after 2pm. Daddy and mummy were overwhelmed by the number of people turning up and they were so busy entertaining them.

I felt like a super star with some many uncles and aunties carrying and looking at me. Howeever, I was soundly asleep throughout the event and only fussing for milk once.

This is me wearing my 2nd outfit of the day. A Petit Bateau romper mummy bought specially for this day.


My 1st outfit was also a romper po po bought for me.


Mummy thought I would like this cake with a train. Daddy even kept the train so that I can play with it when I'm a bit older.


The guests sang a "Happy Birthday" song for me.


This is my gong gong and po po. po po helped to take care of mummy and I during mummy's confinement period. We are both thankful to her.

Insensitivity or ignorance

Mummy was not very pleased when she heard people commenting on me being small when born compared to so and so. She wondered didn't they know that I was born a month earlier, week 36, and thus they shouldn't compare me with full-term babies who were born in week 38, 39 or 40. In fact, I was of very good weight as a 36th week baby and would definitely weighed more than 3kg if I were to be born at full-term.

Daddy was at the nursery admiring me when he overheard a young man commenting that I was smaller than the rest of the babies there. He was oblivious that my daddy was there glaring at him.

On another note, daddy and mummy are very proud of me being able to adjust and adapt so well to the life outside the womb without the need of any medical equipment. Mummy and I were discharged from Thomson Medical Centre on 19 Feburary 2009.

Birth Story

While mummy was suffering from labour pain, she did not forget to take down the details of my birth with her PDA phone.

16 Feb 2009

9.30pm - Mummy went toilet and found white, sticky and heavy discharge. It is actually mucous plug discharge

17 Feb 2009

5.20am - Mummy went toilet and water bag leaked immediately when she stood up.

6.25am - Daddy and mummy left home for TMC

6.45am - They reached TMC and was admitted. Daddy went to do the admission while mummy was in the observation ward. She was told to change into their gown.

7.15am - VE 1.5cm dilated

7.20am - Nurse injected enema for mummy and she was told to wait for at least 5 min before passing motion

7.45am - Mummy was transferred from observation room to birth room. Mummy's gynae, Dr Joycelyn Wong, arrived and checked for dilation - 1.5cm; contraction 3 min apart but mild. She told mummy to expect me to be born by mid afternoon

8am - Mummy was served with tuna sandwiches and milo


11am - VE 2.5cm dilated. Dr Wong put mummy on drip to speed up contraction and dilation hopefully by 1cm per hr.

1.30pm - Mummy decided to take epidural before it was too late.

2pm - VE 6cm dilated

2.40pm - Mummy could still feel pain at the bottom despite the pain at the back and abdomen was relieved. Her dosage of epidural was increased.

3.20pm - Mummy felt intense pain still and had the urge to push. The midwife gave mummy the laughing gas. It wasn't of any use but simply made her 'high'. VE 9.5cm dilated

3.45pm - Dr Wong came back from an operation from somewhere and suggested mummy to start pushing. After a couple of pushes between contractions...

4.03pm - I was born at 36 weeks of gestation weighing 2.64kg and measured 48cm long.
