Graduation

Daddy has finally graduated! All of us have been waiting for the day to arrive to attend his commencement at NUS Cultural Centre on 13 July 2009. Mummy told me that it was not easy for daddy as he has to juggle not only work and studies but also major events (ROM, customary wedding, renovation, pregnancy and my birth) that took place within the 4 years. Mummy thought I must have sensed daddy’s amazing resilience and discipline that I always look at him in awe and admiration. There is always this sparkle in my eyes when I look at him.

The day started with mummy waking me up early for a feed. Then po po bathed for me at 7 plus in the morning. All thanks to po po for offering to stay overnight and help mummy knowing that it would be rushing for her to do it alone. The grown-ups then speedily get dressed and gobbled down their breakfast before rushing out at 8 plus. Daddy weaved in and out of the congested road in an amazing speed and reached Clementi in no time to pick my paternal grandparents.

After daddy and my paternal grandparents’ admission into the auditorium at NUS Cultural Centre, mummy, po po and I made our way to a cozy holding room to witness the ceremony. While waiting for daddy’s turn, I dozed off but luckily woke time just in time. It was a pity that I could only see daddy receiving his scroll via live web cast from a large LCD monitor from the separate holding room meant especially for babies like me. Mummy made it up by taking lots of pictures of daddy and me. She even bought a lion plush toy dressed in the same sash and gown as daddy for me. She then demanded daddy to buy one for her from NTU one of these days as he failed to give one to her on her graduation years ago.

A nice family shot

A group shot after the end of the long morning. Mummy wondered why I looked as if I was in a shock. In fact, I was tired and wanted to sleep.

Mummy thought the lion, with its mane, look intimidating. However, I was not at all afraid.
